"For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”" - Isaiah 30:15

Ahoy Church,

It's been beautiful to share Sunday arvos at the beach lately.

  • Great stories of faith rising in us and in those around us.
  • Simple, but transformative words of Jesus.
  • Wonderful times to sit in quiet trust of our loving God.

This Sunday we gather at City Life (7 Gregson Pl, Caloundra) from 3pm to share in communion, song and prayer! Please take time to listen to the Spotify playlist so you are ready to sing from your heart as well as your head 😄

Maessi and team will lead us in worship this Sunday.2026

We'll transition smoothly straight into our AGM with some stories from different ministries in our church, a very simple update from me, followed by a small administrative update and finance update. Renee will close us out with a prayer of blessing upon those who've chosen to call Open Road home.

I strongly encourage everyone to attend! It won't be long; you'll get a bigger picture of what's happening in and around our church, and knowing more of our inner workings builds transparency. While there is only one minor matter to vote on, if you're keen to vote, you legally need to become a member!

“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”

As I've gone through the EHR course with our wonderful new group, I was really struck by this scripture from Isaiah. Given I've had more time to sit quietly at home lately, I was reminded that for followers of Jesus, "salvation" is received, not earned. Salvation is a gift, not a get.

While Christians believe this, it's actually challenging to live. When sickness or crisis hits us, we easily resort to loud panic, not quiet trust.

And yet, baked into the Old Testament, and ever present in the life of Jesus, is the truth that for God's people, strength is found in quietly trusting him, not ourselves.

Much love, see you Sunday,

Dan

Sep 07 EHD: "Emotionally Healthy Relationships" Ends

Our Mission

To help people find and follow Jesus.

Our Vision

Fully Alive through faith in Jesus. To see this vision come to life, we developed FAM, our Fully Alive Model. Ideally, you can work through FAM with someone else.

Our Rhythms

Get to Know Jesus: how are you getting to know Jesus this week?
Invite people into your life: who can you intentionally open up your life to?
Gather and get involved: who can you connect, listen, share, or pray with this weekend?

Giving Up, In, and Out

Our church follows the same simple pattern of giving that we encourage each other individually: UP, IN, and OUT.

Giving UP

As a church, we give 2.5% to our denomination to support what's happening in churches like ours statewide and show appreciation for all the support they provide. We encourage each follower to consider giving "up" to support their local church - in this case ours :)

Giving IN

We give to personal/family needs within our church from our $5,000 Giving Kitty. Please alert us if you know someone with genuine needs that you're unable to meet out of your own resources.

Giving OUT

This term, we are encouraging our church to give to the family who visit us each year from the country where they share Jesus. We'll give to them as a church, and we encourage you to give to them too.
