Ahoy Church!
This Sunday we will be gathering as usual, with Home Church in a temporary location while Marcello + Mariela visit family interstate.
On the beach, we will have our first baptism in recent months. If you have chosen to follow Jesus by putting your faith in him, you are also invited to be baptised!
To read more about Baptism, I recorded a short video some time ago, along with a whole bunch of scriptures regarding what it means to be baptised.
My most recent conviction about baptism is that it's a declaration to all the powers that be (both God and his opponents) that you've accepted Christ's invitation to move from darkness to light, from death to life, from pride to humility, from fear to faith in Jesus.

If you've already been baptised, you can be involved in two ways.
Firstly, join us on Sunday as we gather to encourage each other, pray and celebrate the people being baptised!
Secondly, the early Christians had a habit of praying for those who were to be baptised. To better engage with prayer for God's blessing upon those being baptised, they would often fast the day before or the day of the baptism. If you would join me in taking time to pray for those being baptised, that'd be amazing.
As we explore fasting this term, this is a great opportunity to join in a 2,000-year-old Christian tradition: sacrificial, loving prayer for the blessing of those to be baptised!

Giving Up, In, and Out
Our church encourages people to set aside money each week/month to meet the needs of our church, community and beyond. We follow the same simple pattern of giving that we encourage each other individually: UP, IN, and OUT.
Giving UP
As a church, we give 2.5% to our denomination to support what's happening in churches like ours statewide and show appreciation for all the support they provide. We encourage each follower to consider giving "up" to support their local church - in this case, ours :)
Giving IN
We encourage you to be alert for personal/family needs within our church. If you know someone with genuine needs that you can't meet yourself, please REPLY now.
Giving OUT
We encourage people to be generous not just in/around our church family, but also to those serving beyond us.
One of the groups we've known for some time is Chris and Emma Poulsen, who have planted a new church in the suburb of Walkervale, Bundaberg.
After starting a neighbourhood BBQ that grew to a packed-out, post-snag Bible Study at their house, they have settled into weekly Sunday gatherings and have seen many people loved, supported and come to faith in Jesus.
They are wonderful Jesus-people and are reaching a community that few have been able to in recent decades.
