"Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." - Jesus in Luke 12:15
Ahoy Church,
This term, we are going to hear stories about how people pray. This is part of focusing on three key spiritual skills Jesus calls us to: giving, prayer and fasting.
This is not simply to highlight people or how disciplined some people may or may not be. It's about championing every single one of us into a prayerful life. Not just asking God for things, but hearing from him. Not just seeking answers in hard seasons, but seeking his presence in every season.
This is a great reminder that our church vision isn't for "Open Road", the organisation, institution or brand. Rather, the vision for our church is that all of us are Fully Alive in Jesus - living out the rhythms of life (know, invite and gather) and faith that we feel God has called us to.
It's been wonderful to hear many stories recently of people reaching out to others lately, living out the Invite life that Jesus calls us to, "Love one another".
- I was chatting to two people after church, but they had to interrupt and leave to have dinner with someone we all know and love.
- I've seen quite a number of people meeting with their friends to do Bible study, prayer for each other or mentor each other.
- I've heard stories of people taking time to console or comfort each other in hard times.
- I've heard of people opening up their homes, or eating out with others, to simply embrace them and get to know their story.
- I've heard of people rescheduling their weeks to regularly include others in their weekly "rituals".
- Some of our young adults organised a night to worship God together in one of their homes.
- We've been able to meaningfully meet some financial needs and opportunities in the last few months that have been awesome.
What a joy to be living life with not only the one true God, but the God who has modelled us how to live a life of love, and also promised his presence to us along the way!
Much love, see you Sunday!
Dan
P.S. Please remember, if you are sitting on rugs/grass, please shuffle as close to the front as you can!! This ensures those at the back can hear as best as possible, and makes room for people with chairs!
One-Offs
The Send - Friday, May 1st
As Jacob shared last week, The Send is a regional gathering on May 1st for youth and young adults. Each regional gathering is building momentum leading up to the main gathering of prayer, worship and commissioning in October 2027.
Dan's Ordination + BYO Dinner, Sunday, May 10th
I'm now officially a "Reverend" :) This is simply a recognition of trust within the Qld Baptist community. I've stayed the course, remained faithful and continue to serve you guys and the community as best I am able. On May 10th, a representative from QB will join us, share a bit and lead us in a prayer of blessing for our ongoing ministry.
One Prayer - Tuesday, June 2nd
Qld Baptists are encouraging their churches to take Monday June 1st to Sunday June 7th as "Prayer Week". The goal is to focus our attention on deepening our commitment to prayer, especially for revival in our state and nation. Part of this is a combined prayer meeting at Bridgeman Downs Baptist on 7pm, Tuesday June 2nd. I'll be going, along with some of our Young Adults, and you're welcome to join us! It will likely be a very large gathering of worship, prayer and ministry.
Church Camp - June 19-21
Don't forget to register for camp if you haven't already. If you need financial assistance, hit REPLY and let me know.

Our Mission
To help people find and follow Jesus.
Our Vision
Fully Alive through faith in Jesus. To see vision come to life, we developed FAM, our Fully Alive Model. Ideally, you can work through FAM with someone else.
Our Rhythms
Get to Know Jesus: how are you getting to know Jesus this week?
Invite people into your life: who can you intentionally open up your life to?
Gather and get involved: who can you connect, listen, share, or pray with this weekend?
Giving Up, In, and Out
Our church follows the same simple pattern of giving that we encourage each other individually: UP, IN, and OUT.
Giving UP
As a church, we give 2.5% to our denomination to support what's happening in churches like ours statewide and show appreciation for all the support they provide. We encourage each follower to consider giving "up" to support their local church - in this case ours :)
Giving IN
We give to personal/family needs within our church from our $5,000 Giving Kitty. Please alert us if you know someone with genuine needs that you're unable to meet out of your own resources.
Giving OUT
This term, we are encouraging our church to give to the family who visit us each year from the country where they share Jesus. We'll give to them as a church, and we encourage you to give to them too.
