This is the first year we've taken time to share our simple model for giving up, in, and out. You can read our first email in our series on giving up, in, and out if you would like to learn some of our basic beliefs about giving.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it
One of the challenges with giving up, in, and out is that many of us don't have a reference point for how God can work in and through our finances. When we begin to see our resources as God's gifts to be stewarded, rather than a personal treasure chest to be hoarded, it's like seeing the world through a whole new lens.
As you begin on your journey of Jesus-led generosity to others, you learn at least two things:
#1 God sees you and your needs
Firstly, one promise that is never more real than when God leads our giving is that He will supply all our needs. It can be dangerous to make hard-and-fast principles about what God promises when we give. Many, all too easily, discover that many of our beliefs about God and money involve a degree of self-interest. However, as we give in accordance with the Bible's teaching and God's guidance, we come to experience that...
19 ...my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19
#2 'Our' resources become God's provision for others' needs
Secondly, as we give, we become part of God's great plan to meet the needs - financial and otherwise - of the world. Whether it's his guidance to meet the needs of the poor, widows, orphans, or our brothers and sisters in faith, the Bible is full of guidance on those God seeks to care for through our personal generosity. This is not simply "good deeds" or Western charity, but God's universal principle for loving community.
To learn that your resources have been gifted to you by God, in part, to meet the needs of others, is a paradigm shift we all need!
While economically, the Bible endorses private property, part of the beauty of ownership is that you can be generous at your own discretion. This is one of the reasons the Bible discourages debt - it limits the average person's capacity to be generous.
So, here's my challenge to you.
Especially if you're new to Jesus-led generosity, would you prayerfully set aside some money this week to meet the needs of those around you?
Keep it simple to start with: $5, $50, $100 whatever you can uncomfortably afford.
You could call it your:
$100 Project
$50 Mission
$5 Experiment
The reason I suggest an amount you can "uncomfortably" afford is that you want to continue to rely on God's provision to meet your own needs as you commit to meeting the needs of those around you.
You can start by praying, "God, here's the $5/$50/$100 you've given into my hand, would you show me how to use it to lovingly meet someone else's need(s)?"
You could buy a coffee, a meal, a tank of fuel, a supermarket gift card, donate, or anything else God leads you to.
You can do it anonymously and should avoid mentioning anything to whom you're giving. Just keep your heart and eyes open for a chance to lovingly meet the needs of someone in your world.
If our giving framework is merely a concept, it has not been effective. The reason our church has adopted this approach and we encourage you to as well, is that everything we do is to propel us into the promised abundant life Jesus invites all of us to. If we are to become Fully Alive, it surely can't be in just one area of our lives, but all of our lives.
Get free. Financially. By giving like Jesus.
Much love and see you Sunday,
Dan

Church Camp!
We are planning a church camp at Cobb & Co around mid-year. Stay tuned.
Our Mission
To help people find and follow Jesus.
Our Vision
Fully Alive through faith in Jesus. To see vision come to life, we developed FAM, our Fully Alive Model. Ideally, you can work through FAM with someone else.
Our Rhythms
Get to Know Jesus: how are you getting to know Jesus this week?
Invite people into your life: who can you intentionally open up your life to?
Gather and get involved: who can you connect, listen, share, or pray with this weekend?
Giving Up, In, and Out
Our church follows the same simple pattern of giving that we encourage each other individually: UP, IN, and OUT.
Giving UP
As a church, we give 2.5% to our denomination to support what's happening in churches like ours statewide and show appreciation for all the support they provide. We encourage each follower to consider giving "up" to support their local church - in this case ours :)
Giving IN
We give to personal/family needs within our church from our $5,000 Giving Kitty. Please alert us if you know someone with genuine needs that you're unable to meet out of your own resources.
Giving OUT
We encourage giving to several Christian projects beyond our church and local community: individual missionaries in Africa and Mongolia, an aid project in Cambodia, a local community non-profit called Sprout, and a church plant in Walkervale (Bundaberg). We'll give to them as a church, and we encourage you to give to them too.
Last month's giving: $10,157
Last month's expenses: $19,773
Balance: $75,448
Giving in : Oct 23-Feb 26: $5,000
Giving out : Oct 23-Feb 26: $18,293
"Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed." - Proverbs 19:17
If you would like to support what we are doing and our giving to those in need, you can get started giving to Open Road to meet the needs of our church or get in touch with any questions you may have.
