“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves…” Matthew 7:15
Ahoy Church,
It was wonderful to celebrate on Sunday with so many friends, old and new.
Prayer with other Christians is powerful. One of the benefits of gathering each week is to share moments of prayer! We were able to pray for healing, for the babies-to-be and for our time of sharing the Lord’s Supper.
When we pray, we not only bring our focus to God, but we also learn how to pray. Jesus taught his followers a simple prayer, The Lord’s Prayer. And these first few generations of Christians, those who walked with Jesus, or knew people who did, developed their own prayers inspired by their time with him. Each of these prayers is a gift to us.
Every Christian has found themselves in a prayer gathering where they think, “Wow! That was such a powerful prayer!” Likewise, these 2,000-year-old prayers have a power to them. While we will always value the prayers of modern Christians, young and old, there is humility in submitting ourselves to prayers that were universally recognised as God-honouring and soul-nourishing for Christians worldwide.
On Sunday, we took our lead from three prayers found in the Didache, known as, “The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles”, outlining a manual for early Christian life and church gatherings (Want to learn more? Check below). It outlines the simple truths of the gospel, how to live ‘The Way of Life’, how to pray each Day and much more!

Out of sixteen chapters, two were dedicated to prayers for taking the Lords’ Supper. While we maintain the freedom to pray as God leads us, there is a freedom and humility in praying prayers that have been offered to God since his Son returned to heaven 2,000 years ago.
I’d encourage you to be willing to learn from those who’ve gone before us in faith, especially those who knew, or were mentored by, the people and practices of the first Christians!

Below is a link to some resources on Prayer, including the prayers we shared on Sunday, The Lord’s Prayer, and a list of ‘classic’ prayers.

Another practice that is just as ancient is Christian baptism. This Sunday Solomon Davis is getting baptised. Please join us as we celebrate this simple and significant act of faith in Christ, the Son of God and saviour of the world.
Cheers, God Bless, and see you Sunday!
Jesus: Beware of False Prophets
Not everyone claiming to be a Christian leader is a qualified leader or even a Christian! Join us this Sunday as we hear a warning from Jesus on how to ensure we are learning from people who are leading us to Jesus.

Origin Fundraiser for Baringa Chaplaincy
On June 17th, the day before the 2nd State of Origin match, Sarah Littleton is leading a fundraiser for the Baringa Chaplaincy Program.
While the school community will be ordering Maroon or Blue cupcakes through the school, local churches and church members are invited to “sponsor a dozen” cupcakes for $20.
The hope is that between three local churches we can sponsor 50 x Dozen cupcakes to sell on the day with all proceeds going directly to chaplaincy.
It’s been a privilege to meet with Sarah Littleton, the new chaplain. She attends LifePoint, another local Baptist church and is passionate about making a difference in the Baringa State School.
Donations can be made directly to Baringa's SU Account

- The hearts and minds particularly of our second-year interns as they prepare themselves for an exciting trip to Cambodia.
- Safety and good health for all those travelling to Cambodia and that the team will form positive and lasting relationships.
